Let the Mask Fall

Going day to day through life’s trivialities,

Left in a suspended animation waiting for you,

To make up your mind and say what you really want to say,

To thine own self be true,

You fear the conversations you will have to face,

Are destinations you avoid yet I remain in place,

This concept is escaping you because of your stubbornness,

The unknown and the difficult, the scary openness,

It’s all good because I have nowhere else to be,

So I wait for you to finally own up to what you already see,

This yearning is displaced because you said I’m the person you’re looking for,

You just need to summon the courage to open that door,

You hide behind a mask that keeps the truth from escaping when you exhale,

Burying what you really want with each inhale,

You will finally decide to let the mask fall,

Get over these hang ups and tear down your walls,

One of these days you will get those feelings off your chest,

When that day happens I’ll handle the rest.
