Hypocrisy rules the land today,
It doesn’t matter where your politics lay,
A riot for one is a protest for another,
Don’t speak your mind, keep your head down, take cover,
It’s all fair game unless the other side commits the crime,
Both sides are brainwashed and products of their time,
Cancel culture driving your mind,
Until the cancelling puts yourself in a bind,
Then cry for the freedoms that you voted away,
And ignore your role in the problems today,
It’s never your fault, it’s the others to blame,
Whenever you start losing it’s time for another game,
You gotta get that win for your fragile self-esteem,
But imagine what logic and self-examination would gleen,
The mentality of us versus them is a zero sum plan,
Together as one should be the goal of the land,
But it’s easier to remain divided and have objects to hate,
Just stop with the entitlement and outrage when you come to your fate,
We are supposed to be the example, beacon of hope,
Instead, we hang ourselves due to an over abundance of rope,
If we got rid of the tribalism and listen to both sides,
Educate ourselves on issues and eliminate our personal fears wherever they hide,
Then maybe, just maybe, we can right this sinking ship,
But until then we will continue to watch this country continue to slip.
